Easter Questions to Keep in Mind

Posted By on April 12, 2009

Today at Mass, we renewed our baptismal promises. It is a good time to reflect on what we believe, and to ask ourselves questions we don’t ask ourselves very often. So for your reflection, I offer the baptismal renewal questions.

Do you reject Satan?

And all his works?

And all his empty promises?

Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth?

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was born of the Virgin Mary
was crucified, died, and was buried,
rose from the dead,
and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?

Do you believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting?

God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit,
and forgiven all our sins.
May he also keep us faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever.
Amen.

  1. One of our parish priests likes to tell everyone that this is the time when Catholics should YELL in church. He doesn’t want any wimpy “I do’s” when we renew the promises! He wants it loud and clear.
    AMEN!

    Happy Easter!
